Heating oil blues

posted Wed, 06/25/08
It was sad to see spring passing by with all those rainy days. It's even more sad to say that we ordered 2000 liters (= 528 gallons) of heating oil this morning. The price was really painful: 1800 euros! That's 2768 US dollars for one year, that's enough I think, I'd rather spend that money on other things.

Talking about spending money, we spent some on cat supplies. We have to be patient for another 4 weeks to bring our kitten home. Last week we bought a scratching pole, a cat litterbox, a blanket for the couch and a basket and some toys. We are so looking forward for Fumeni to come home. Don't ask me where the name Fumeni comes from, it's too difficult to explain. Last Friday we surprised Eef by buying a white rabbit. She was still sad over Floor. This one is also a cutie and loves spending time on our laps.

We Americans have really been spoiled haven't we. We are bitching about 4.00 a gallon gasoline. I spent 75.00 filling my car last week. The whole world needs to get on the alternate fuel bandwagon!! I am not sure I agree with Bio-deisel either...that just takes land away from food farmers so they can grow corn, flax etc to turn into fuel.

What kind of kitten did you get? I guess I must have missed that post!

My brother Shane just bought a house and they are already saving up money to be able to buy oil for the winter.

Have fun with your new pets. :)

Will that last a year? My house is all electric so I'm glad I don't have to buy fuel/gas/propane to heat with. Some folks I know had natural gas bills that were over $300 a month during the winter though so I'm glad we don't have to buy it.
